I am the principal of My First Skool -153/183C Rivervale Crescent (RVC). Driven by my love for children and passion for teaching, I made a career switch at the peak of my career. Graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration from the National University of Singapore, I entered the Early-childhood sector as a trainee teacher and took on the role of a Principal within four years. Since joining My First Skool in late 2017, I had led the centre to achieve SPARK Certification in May 2018. RVC used to be the smallest centre in the organisation but has now expanded, serving 128 children and their families. The centre had participated in many ECDA and MFS initiatives and projects with community partners to enrich children’s learning experiences and benefitting diverse learners. We collaborated with National Arts Council for the NAC-AEP project, to promote creative expressions through art. Children learn values of respect, empathy and appreciation through the Intergenerational Programme with the community elder care centre. Strong parental relationships have also been fostered through active involvement in children’s learning through centre activities and specially designed take-home kit to meet the diverse needs of families. I strongly believe it is essential to build a safe, home-like yet stimulating and educational environment – cultivating a warm, caring, supportive atmosphere where each child can be nurtured, grow and succeed. It is with this belief that RVC has built a strong team of caring and responsible teachers who work together to make all families feel welcomed, all children to feel loved and maximise every child’s optimal development.
