Being an Early Childhood Educator and Leader is a significant part of my life. As an Executive Principal at 51 Fernvale Link, leading a large childcare centre with a capacity at 520 children and a team of 80 staff, I enjoy my work and take pride in my profession. I believe every classroom is made up of a unique community of learners that vary in their learning abilities and style. Working with children has opened my mind and heart to the diversity of ideas. My passion and love for children coupled with my positive outlook in life has constantly motivated me to give my best. This profession has taught me to work with sensitivity to the needs of children, families and fellow educators. I believe that having consistent communication and mutual respect is fundamental in building positive and genuine relationships. Having strong relationships with community partners enable us to provide a holistic yet diverse and resourceful learning environment for the children. KidsSTOP and Apple are key partners in the development of a niche Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programme offered at our centre. We provide enriching learning experiences that develops life skills such as critical thinking, reasoning and problem solving. Through our partnership with AWWA Early Intervention Centre, children from both schools collaborate and develop their disposition to care for others. As Nelson Mandela says, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” I look forward to partner parents, partners and the larger community in providing a quality education and a joyful early childhood experience for all our children.
