Early childhood is a unique and valuable stage of the human life cycle. I believe children require learning opportunities that help them achieve their full potential as engaged learners. This stage teaches children to be aware of individual responsibilities and to develop an appreciation for differences and similarities.

With more than 16 years of experience in early childhood education and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College, I have been given ample opportunities to widen my scope of learning. Specifically, being named a finalist for the ECDA Outstanding Early Childhood Teacher Award in 2015 continues to motivate me to contribute deeply to the early childhood sector.

At My First Skool, children experience the joy of learning through purposeful play, developing critical thinking skills and the essential habits that support lifelong learning. I believe that teachers, as role models within the community, contribute significantly to children’s active learning. As a centre leader, it is vital for me to guide, empower, and cultivate a culture of professional sharing among teachers, allowing us to improve progressively to provide quality education and care.

Collaborative partnerships with families and community stakeholders promote effective outcomes for children. In addition to partnering with the Health Promotion Board, National Library Board, and NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Marsiling), our centre collaborates with various community partners to provide meaningful learning experiences. These focus on instilling values and dispositions that promote holistic learning. Through these engagements, children develop respect for the environment, social responsibility, and a sense of community, supporting their overall growth and development.
