To communicate with others;
To seek information;
To help others;
To develop a genuine zest for knowledge; and
To instill a positive attitude towards learning.
3. Who designs my child’s lessons?
NTUC First Campus has the largest and most comprehensive team of specialists in early childhood, child development and child psychology in Singapore.
This team is responsible for designing the programmes at our centres. Besides designing the lessons, they train the teachers in the delivery of the programme and closely monitor the standards of delivery and effectiveness of the programme.
4. Who will teach my child?
Warm and nurturing, our staff are genuinely committed to caring for children. They also represent some of the best-trained professionals in early childhood care and education in Singapore.
All our staff meet the country’s childcare training requirements. Many have furthered their early childhood education locally and overseas, and also attend continuous training courses. Close to 40% of our teachers also hold a Diploma in Pre-school Education-Teaching.
5. How is my child doing?
We offer an assessment of your child's progress through parent-teacher conferences held twice a year. We welcome and encourage comments, questions and suggestion from parents. Your feedback is important in helping us strive towards continued excellence.
6. What does it cost?
Our goal is to provide high-quality and affordable childcare services. Our childcare fees range from $450 to $580, and our centre Principals will be happy to provide you with the most prevailing fees.
The government subsidy of $300 for working mothers is applicable to Singaporean Citizens. We also offer financial assistance to eligible families. Please refer to our Principals for more information about the scheme.
7. How are parents involved in centre life?
Parents are our partners in ensuring continuity and consistency in the care, education and development of children. We encourage parents to be involved in the life of the centre through Parent-Teacher Groups (PTGs). Your involvement at the PTGs will also provide you with a support network.
Additionally, you will receive regular newsletters and be informed on parenting seminars, talks and workshops organized through ParentsConnect, a programme specially designed for parents at My First Skool centres.
8. What will my child eat?
Children at our centres are provided with an exciting array of healthy food served in a creative manner.
Almost our centres have been awarded the Healthy Eating Award by the Health Promotion Board. The Award recognises kindergartens and childcare centres that provide healthier food options and promotes healthy eating habits. It is aimed at encouraging children to cultivate a healthy interest in good nutrition from young.
9. What is the staff-child ratio?
We are well within MCYS’s stipulated staff-child ratio which is based on the age groups of the children.
10. Why does my child take so long to adjust to the centre?
Adjustment periods differ from child to child and may vary from an average of two weeks to two months.
11. Is it true that children always fall sick at childcare centres?
Just as changes affect adults, they affect children too. As children adjust to the new environment and routine in the centre, some may fall sick during this initial period. In our years of experience in working with young children, this is only a passing phase. Nevertheless, we will do our best to work closely with parents of new children to ensure a smooth transition for each and every child.
12. How can I help ease my child into the centre?
There are many ways in which you can play a part in easing the transition for your child into the centre including spending time with your child and talking to your child about the centre, reassuring your child of your love and observing daily routines such as settling your child into the centre before leaving for work.
Please feel free to contact any of our centres for a more detailed explanation on our programmes and activities. We look forward to working together in partnership with you for the best care and education of young children in Singapore.
